Gary Sanson, 67, of Cross Lanes departed this life Monday, June 9, 2008,with his wife, Helen, by his side.
He is also survived by his daughter, Sherrie Cottrell, her husband, Nick, and two grandsons, Jude and Jonah, who were the joy of his life, all of Parkersburg; brother, James R. “Coe” Sanson of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of friends and neighbors who will miss his wit and his willingness to help those in need.

Gary was a U.S. Army veteran. He considered Kanawha Valley Motorsports' racers his extended family and enjoyed each year of racing his truck with the motto “Growing old is mandatory but Growing up is optional” and ending up the year by attending the bracket racing finals with friends.
A memorial service to honor Gary at Kanawha Valley Motorsports Dragway Park on Route 35, Southside, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 5.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the bracket finals fund at Kanawha Valley Motorsports Dragway Park on July 5 in his honor, where his legacy will continue.
